Part of my practice is taking my ceramics into various landscapes, organising them, and photographing them.
This photo was taken in the Yuraygir National Park, Yaegyl Country in winter 2016.
There had been a very hot accidental bushfire in the area and I arrived the day after the fire was put out. The ground was dense with ash and the grass trees and banksia were severely burnt. The energy on the ground there was incredibly strong from the fire. I found the burnt banksia and grass trees to be extremely beguiling. I visit the area every month or so to document the regrowth and spirits of this area and have taken thousands of photographs.
