Gorrogarah Binjdil is the estuary and creek at Hat Head mountain on the mid-north coast of NSW. It is in the country of the Ngaku People who are the traditional custodians. The mountain is a pregnant porcupine (echidna). I holiday here regularly with my kids and have a special affinity with this country. This design is a recurring theme in my work and is regularly produced in my work though designs differ according to weather and times of day. For instance the Black Teatree design here represents the midday summer creek prior to high tide when it is heavily stained with tea tree tannin before being flushed out with the clear blue sea water of high tide. Sometimes the designs are grey and overcast and some designs and colourways represent the hot midday of summer.
