1874 Backbone of Country Wall Shield

Backbone design is the aerial view of the great dividing range in eastern Australia post bush fire.

This piece is part of my latest run of diffusion ware and is a step in a new direction as I’ve moved to a new stoneware clay which has been pinched thinner and is fired higher to 1280 degrees Celsius resulting in a stronger body matt finish.

The art piece is threaded with silver wire to hang on the wall
