YiiY, which means ‘Listen!!’ in Gamilaraay/Yuwaalaraay languages of north western NSW is the outcome of time spent engaging in the Yaegl landscape of Yuraygir National park, listening deeply and observing country during many visits over two years.

Ceramic objects were made responding to these experiences and then some were taken back into country and embedded in landscapes which the artist documented. This practice speaks to ancient traditions and ceremonial practices and is the artist’s engagement in a personal decolonizing process through ritual, repetition and meditation.

Exhibited at Grafton Regional Gallery from 25th October – 9 December 2017.
