Songlines are a complex web of Aboriginal walking tracks linking important sites and locations. Songs are archives containing much information. Certain songlines are tracks forged by creator spirits during the Dreaming and have specific creation stories attached to them. Songs hold and transmit layers of information about country.

This piece is part of my latest run of diffusion ware and is a step in a new direction as I’ve moved to a new stoneware clay which has been pinched thinner and is fired higher to 1280 degrees Celsius resulting in a stronger body and matt finish.

This art piece comes threaded with silver wire and ready to hang.

Our Ancestors’ Songlines are effectively archives which hold and transmit layers of information about creation and country. Songs can be sung in cycles.
