This design represents my great grandmothers written mark ‘x’ as she was illiterate and also Bulga who is a practical self contained little amphibian learning to deal with extremes by burying itself deep in mud as drought approaches. Bulga exude their own protective cocoon to enshrine themselves while they enter a state of suspended animation until long awaited rains bring country back to life. They emerge from their hibernation bearing an astonishing cruciform apostematism.
*Bulga means crucifix frog in Gamilaraay language
