I am the recipient this year of the 2009 COFA Professional Development Award.

The College of Fine Arts (COFA) is one of Australia’s leading art and design schools and is located at the Paddington campus of the University of NSW.

The Award includes an Artist in Residency at COFA; a solo exhibition at EPS Gallery, COFA; up to $500 worth of art materials; travel expenses, accomodation and per diems.

The judges Tess Allas and Sylvia Ross said of my work:

Evans’ work “Dispersion of the Old Girls 1, 2 & 3 has a quiet authority coming from the strength of personal experience and cultural memory. The work references histories and challenges commercial iconography, whilst skillfully drawing upon a variety of practice in a cohesive body of work.
